For music fans in general, Duck Rock and D'ya Like Scratchin' are essentials. They need to be properly reissued! Musical styles from South Africa, Northern, Central and Southern America, and the Caribbean are represented together on these offerings, with the result being a very enjoyable listen. Session musicians include Thomas Dolby, Mahlathini and the Mahotella Queens, Trevor Horn, Anne Dudeley, and J.J. Jeczalik (the latter three of Art of Noise fame). Duck Rock also contains timeless skits from the World Famous Supreme Team show on 105.9 WHBI (The duo also appears on Scratchin). Countless vocal samples have been lifted from these skits...

It's time to let the music do the talking. Here are some of my favorite moments from Duck Rock and D'ya Like Scratchin':

World's Famous (D'Ya Like Scratchin' Version)-

Buffalo Gals (Duck Rock)-

Double Dutch (Duck Rock)-

Hobo Scratch (D'Ya Like Scratchin)-

Jive My Baby (Duck Rock)-

Itunes' one-sentence review of Duck Rock is actually spot on:

"An amazingly eclectic collection of world music mixed with urban hip-hop, featuring the dance hit Buffalo Gals."

Malcolm McLaren, rock rock on...
