Will C. - "Heroes and Villains"

This is a promo track I did for Coffee Break For Heroes and Villains not too long ago -

"I stand alone with no Uman
perched above a church's dome in Rome ruins
a far cry from coast to coast ruling
and a long way from oaks in rows soothing
most they don't listen to words, some regret it
consume the text or techs, son dissect it
a monsoon of bullets or bars fused and leaded
to carve tomb's few letters"

Check out the full lyrics here -

I stand alone with no Uman
perched above a church's dome in Rome ruins
a far cry from coast to coast ruling
and a long way from oaks in rows soothing
most they don't listen to words, some regret it
consume the text or techs, son dissect it
a monsoon of bullets or bars fused and leaded
to carve tomb's few letters
I was sittin' on a barstool, spirits high, sober
in a town full of heroes and villains seekin' Noah
need to get a record played ain't see no chauffeur
so my brains my motor to the station's soldier
saw a Lolita print greeting me
'FMU so get tuned to the frequency
stand or fall but if we all take a break
pour some awesome joe and be forced to relate
to the pro in the zone he'll warp designs
and distort war thoughts from a porcelain mind
make it shine, take it - back to being - pure no evil
except for my record Mirror me Back, the sequel - scrapped
and now listen, we got the Prism
see ahead like C is binocular vision
seeming to mock the dissin people accosting him
and even embossing "Will C." into a box set tin
... isn't ... enough

The Kool Skool Interview

Just the other day I was introduced to Shucks One over at The Kool Skool. Definitely a good dude! He interviewed me and asked a lot of quality questions. You can see where the conversations led if you click the following link:

Fresh Produce Celebrates 5th Anniversary! Video Ad By Will C. - Turquoise Jeep!

Shouts to Trees and Nife! Fresh Produce, the infamous monthly hip hop and reggae party held at Downtown Crossing’s Good Life bar, turns 5 years old this July. To celebrate, they're throwing an epic two-part bash on Saturdays July 23 and 30th. Fresh Produce has seen the likes of many stars bless the turntables for their monthly party, from a then up-and-coming Mayer Hawthorne, to legends like Prince Paul and Maseo of De La Soul. This time around, they welcome Dam Funk and the hilarious Turquoise Jeep crew.

I was asked to put together a video advertisement for this two-part celebration and had some fun with it. They left the choice of music up to me. That's always fun on my end, but sometimes I'm nervous the direction I go in will be too left field. In other words, I wasn't sure if the synth-heavy, 80s-commercial-esque, Roland 808 / Oberheim DMX-laced beat I put together would fly. Did they run with it? Find out by clicking on the video.

If you're not familiar with Turquoise Jeep, they're some funny dudes. I had a chance to catch up on their videos when I was putting the ad together. Not much info is out there on them, not even a Wikipedia page. Here's a couple joints I enjoyed!

NEW Blaq Poet "Mortuary Music" Video by Will C.

Alright so I have to begin this post with a warning. This video I put together for Blaq Poet's Mortuary Music has some disturbing scenes, so if you're not into violence and gore, you may want to skip this one. With that being said, if you can stomach it, you'll hear a crazy new track from Poet's upcoming album Blaq Poet Society. Blaq Poet Society is dropping June 21 on Brick Records / Brutal Music. Stu Bangas and Vanderslice did the production for this full length, and it's top notch. Without further ado, Mortuary Music:

*** WARNING EXPLICIT SCENES ***

And if you haven't seen it yet, here's the trailer for Blaq Poet Society, something I also put together:

DOWNLOAD - Will C. and Boycott Blues on 89.3 WTBU's Midnight Marauders (04.24.11)

Last night was dope. Or, in the words of Blues, it was "def, def, deffington." He and I rolled through to WTBU's Midnight Marauders and did our thing. I'll say it like this... Boycott tore shit up. Listen to the things he says. Whatever he decides to speak on, he's saying it in a way nobody else ever has, and that is saying A LOT.

Aside from the performing, the main reason we stopped by was to promote Brick's upcoming 15th anniversary show this Friday at Church in Boston. Come through for what is no doubt going to be a memorable night, with appearances / performances by 1982 (Statik and Termanology), 7L & Esoteric, Blacastan, Moe Pope (Life After God), Boycott Blues, City Slickers, myself, Deadeye, hosts Checkmark and D-Tension, and probably even more.

Listen to and download last night's broadcast below. Highlight's include:
  • Discussing the controversy and recent banning of Colt 45 BLAST in some venues.
  • My remix of Doug E. Fresh's La Di Da Di (which I guess I'm calling Dougie's Psychedelic Breakfast for now), and the discussion this raises among the always insightful Marauders crew.
  • Blues discussing how he got into making beats and rhymes around the time he was about 5 years old. He used to secretly mess with his brother's equipment. When his brother would turn on his drum machine and see some new beats on there, he wouldn't know how they got there. Check it out.
  • Blues rhyming, me rhyming, then back to back rhyming.

TONIGHT (SUNDAY) 8:30 - Will C. & BoyCott Blues on WTBU's Midnight Marauders

TONIGHT 04/24 I'll be stopping by WTBU's Midnight Marauders show with my main man Boycott Blues to promote this shindig -

It should be a good time tonight. Boycott Blues is one of the greatest talents coming out of Boston right now. If you've been hipped to him, I'm sure you're also anticipating his upcoming sophomore offering that should be out this year. If not, consider yourself hipped -

Blues also just got a shout out on Edo's new joint with Premier, Fastlane. This track is ill ("Boycott your music, like my boy Blues") -

You can check out the happenings and listen to the show HERE at 8:30 tonight - Look for the "Listen Live Now" in red on the left side.

By the way, if you missed the last time I was on Midnight Marauders in November of last year, check it out here:

DOWNLOAD: Will C. on WTBU's Midnight Marauders

Here's the audio from Sunday night's appearance on WTBU's Midnight Marauders. It was a good time… shout out to the whole Midnight Marauders crew for having me! There is a good amount of discussion here about the album that is in the works, including a sneak peak live performance of a track tentatively titled Stay Awake. We also delve into some of what went on behind the scenes for the creation of Evil in the Mirror, Down the Dial, Pabst Raps! and more. Check it out, check it out, check it out, check it outttt -

Will C. x Get On Down - Recreational Man

Last month, Get On Down commissioned me to put together some visuals for the latest Keys Open Doors event, which featured DJ Riz, The 45 King and The Bladerunners. It was quite the night! Hearing "This Cut's Got Flavor" booming out of the speakers was perfect. Anyways, I'm hoping you'll enjoy this a little more than the people who had to watch it on loop for an ennnntiiiireee night. They didn't get to hear the beat I synched the footage to either, so let's call this one a world premiere!

Will C. "Water Ice" in Just Another Day (Movie)

My track Water Ice from Evil in the Mirror is in the new film Just Another Day! Pick up a copy to witness my musical cameo, and for now, check out the trailer below.

I know it always bugs me when someone pulls out a gun while I'm walking down the street and I have to rap my way out of danger.

The Wire's Wood Harris and Jamie Hector reunite-

Jamie Hector ("The Wire", "Heroes") is Young Eastie, a struggling rapper who dreams of getting a record deal through the legendary A-Maze (Wood Harris, "The Wire," "Remember the Titans). But connecting with his hero is going to be tougher than he thinks. Even though A-Maze is at the top of the ladder, his star is falling - and he's getting desperate to hang on. Featuring top rap artists Trick Dady, Lil Scrappy, Ja Rule and Petey Pablo, "Just Another Day" takes a compelling, true-to-life look at the brutal ups and downs of the cutthroat hip-hop business.

Will C. - My Mind Lyrics:

(go get 'em)

(flag is up)

I left work tense and damn I
can't just circumvent the jam I
got my car in crammed in stand by
I'm Ralph Kramden, damn it, and I
got home, shift to park and sigh
but I got new wisdom on my side
I could cop brew, sip and start a rhyme
cause I "Got Blue Ribbon on my mind"
so I weave, hop and skip and see a bar and dip in
cedar walls and brick and Peter, Paul in system
PBR is crisp, I seek a tall prescription
keeper saw me sitting, need a proper tip
as he leaned talking quick he said "What'll ya have?"
I said "Pabst Blue Ribbon, what'll you have?"
he said "Your money!" and laughed "Buddy, I'll run ya a tab
like if you had you a hundred I'd sub you 20 in flasks"
but I ain't chuggin' a glass, going- slow and steady
look I know the drink isn't over heavy
I've been pro at rap since I rode a Chevy
gotta boast a little, yo I've so been ready
now I'm relaxed with a pen and a pad
and a beat jacked from a 70s ad
as I lean back like a gentleman brags
and I let out a breath, I said remember the tag...

Pabst Raps- Official "Trailer"

Recently, Pabst Blue Ribbon commissioned yours truly (and a few other like-minded artists) to put together some funky PBR promo tracks. The result: Pabst Raps, a limited edition blue-colored vinyl 45 dropping this spring / summer. Here's the official "trailer" I put together, featuring one of my cuts, Rocketbelt. And yes, the footage is from an actual Pabst Blue Ribbon Ad from the 70s. They don't make 'em like they used to. Now, strap on a rocketbelt and check it out:
